Job description


To lead and inspire a team of Visual Merchandising/Interior design co-workers together with VM & ID manager in creating exciting range presentation solutions. Ensuring a clear commercial calendar activities message is throughout store during each launch that will increase the frequency of the visitation in the store thereby contributing to positioning the IKEA Brand in the local market as the home furnishing specialist and the IKEA store as an up-to-date and innovative destination that always offers something new and exciting.


  • Lead a team of Visual Merchandising/Activity Co-workers in creating relevant, inspiring, affordable and commercial range presentation solutions based on the country commercial calendar package to stimulate home furnishing interest.
  • Responsible for gathering and translating the launch package from country commercial calendar package to the team, ensuring an effective and successful launch that will increase the visitation frequency. There is always something new and exciting happening in the store.
  • Ensure a good commercial tempo is in place. A good overview of the commercial calendar activities before, during and after the period at all times; acting quickly to exploit commercial opportunities (i.e. working with sales and plan the add-ons pertaining to the activity, home furnishing activities for customers etc), ensuring a strong red thread, optimal visual impact and supported by effective store commercial team.
  • Work together with store Com&In and the Commercial Team colleagues to plan the range presentation solutions based on layout as a commercial tool aligned to Country inspiration and communication direction; execute them with high quality, simplicity, cost effectiveness and efficiency using global tools and best practices.
  • Ensure that the range presentation solutions meet key objectives, understand the task of different store medias and how to utilise them individually or collectively during an activity, securing the right display techniques, the launch style expression creating a strong visual impact for the commercial calendar activity message. Demonstrating easy, beautiful and affordable home furnishing ideas to refresh everyone's home.
  • Inspire through creativity and imagination to strengthen the IKEA brand and make it trustworthy.
  • Responsible for analysing research findings (i.e. Brand Capital, ICSS, home visits, trend etc) and translating knowledge of the local market’s needs and dreams into inspiring range presentation solutions that reflect the locally relevance festivity meeting the needs and expectation of our visitors at that time of the year.
  • To inspire them to make changes to their home. 
  • Actively support the developing of the department action plan using layout as a commercial tool as well as range presentation and vitality initiatives that are focused on growing the business and supporting long-term profitability; and executing the agreed plans together with the Com&In team and other functions.
  • Responsible for the ordering of materials and racking used in the construction of displays, ensuring that the team always keeps visitors in mind, minimise disruption and communicate changes when working on the shop floor.
  • Up-to-date with knowledgeable about retailing, home furnishing, trends in order to support the Com&In manager to facilitate workshops that generate creative directions that inspire and surprise visitors with a strong visual impression.
  • Securing personal succession planning by constantly searching for potential candidates.

  • Steer and manage the team in the way to reach each personal competence and development.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in English with the capability to work internationally with cultural sensitivity

  • Good leadership capabilities including ability to lead peers and stakeholders while communicating in an inspirational way with IKEA tone of voice.
  • Ability to follow up and measure performance of output and capture learnings o improve planning and performance moving forward.
